Mount Toubkal

On top of Mount Toubkal at 4165m (4167m inc. the pyramid which marks the summit), you’re standing on the highest mountain in North Africa. During the summer months large numbers of people try for the summit in the scorching heat up scree slopes. In the winter, the landscape is completely different and much of the ascent is in snow.

When?

On March 11th 2009 at just after 1pm, I reached the pyramid marking the summit of Mount Toubkal. I completed the ascent as part of a group of 8 clients on an Exodus Mount Toubkal Winter Ascent Trip. I’ve put together some notes about my preparation and ascent of Mount Toubkal.

The third highest mountain in Africa is Mt Rwenzori in Uganda at 5,100m and not Mt Toubkal
